AZTEC QUEEN
Kings come and go, but a queen is someone whose reign is immortal.
The first Aztec queen was called Ilancuéitl. On her wedding day, she was welcomed by the people of the city of Tenochtitlan. The newlyweds were carried throughout the city on a throne and declared the rulers of Mexico.
Ilancuéitl was infertile and had no true biological children of her own. Ilancuéitl was so admired by the people that many rulers and generations of Aztecs claimed to be descendants of her.
